Yemeni Government Forces Launch Drone Attacks on Houthi Positions
Istanbul (ANTARA) - Yemeni government forces announced on Saturday that they have launched precision drone attacks against Houthim locations in Al-Dhale Province, south-western Yemen, amid rising conflict tensions in the Arab nation.
In a statement, the Nation’s Shield Forces did not specify the exact locations of the “precision drone strikes”. They also released video footage of the attacks, showing airstrikes targeting a group of dozens of Houthi members.
As of now, there has been no direct comment from the Houthi group regarding the statement.
The map of territorial control in Yemen has shifted in recent days due to increased confrontations between government forces and the Houthis since early July 2026, following a period of relative calm that had lasted for years.
According to the Houthi group, they now control the entire Al-Hudaydah Province in the west. This follows their movements in the western region of Taiz Province and the seizure of the city of Mokha along with its Red Sea port.
This advancement has also brought the Houthis closer to the Bab El-Mandeb Strait, one of the world’s most vital shipping lanes.
Meanwhile, government forces have made progress in Al-Jawf Province, a northern region bordering Saudi Arabia, and are approaching the provincial capital, Al-Hazm.
Clashes also continue across several fronts in Al-Bayda, Al-Dhale, and Marib Provinces.
Yemen has been embroiled in conflict since the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, and several provinces in September 2014. An Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia subsequently intervened in March 2015 to support the internationally recognised Yemeni government.
