Yemen oil deals for RI firm
SANAA (Reuter): An Indonesian oil firm signed two deals to explore for oil in eastern Yemen, Sanaa state television reported.
It said on Friday night that Indonesia's PT Bakrie & Brothers would start exploration work in two concession areas in the provinces of Shabwa and Hadhramaut once the Yemeni parliament approves the deals.
It did not say when parliament would review the contracts.
According to the deals, Bakrie will spend US$34 million on initial exploration work in a 7,400 sq kms (2,856 sq miles) area in Hadhramaut's Block 13.
In Shabwa's R2 region the company will spend $19 million on initial explorations of a 2,850 sq kms (1,100 sq miles) area.
