Yemen invests in Riau province

PEKANBARU, Riau: Yemen businesspeople are eyeing investment opportunities in Riau province. They plan to invest US$20 million in the construction of margarine and soap factories, which will be followed by investments in other fields, according to Riau Governor Rusli Zainal.

The Yemen investors have committed to sending factory equipment to Riau province in the next few weeks, said Rusli after meeting with Yemen Ambassador to Indonesia Ahmed Salim Alwahishi.

Rusli said the Riau administration had assured investors that security and bureaucratic efficiency were a priority in order to win their commitment. -- JP
