Yellowing skin: Baby abandoned by an older sister in a nasi uduk cart fed milk every hour
JAKARTA — A baby girl with the initials AR who was found inside a shopping bag in a nasi uduk cart in the Pasar Minggu area of South Jakarta is now receiving intensive care at the Tunas Bangsa Social Care Home for Children and Toddlers (PSAA Tunas Bangsa) in Cipayung, East Jakarta. To help improve her health, AR is being fed Infantrini milk every hour. Rida Mufrida, head of PSAA Tunas Bangsa Cipayung, said the regular feeding is being done because upon arrival AR’s skin appeared yellow. ‘Therefore, to prevent or boost her immune system, we give her milk every hour. Even if she is asleep, we wake her to feed,’ she said on Friday, 6 March 2026. However, Rida assured that overall AR’s condition at the time of arrival at PSAA Tunas Bangsa was healthy. ‘Alhamdulillah when she arrived at the Tunas Bangsa Social Care Home for Children and Toddlers, AR’s condition was healthy,’ she added. In addition to regular milk intake, AR will undergo further health checks. The facility is coordinating with the Cipayung District Health Clinic (Puskesmas Kecamatan Cipayung) to ensure the baby’s condition remains monitored. ‘In addition to the milk, this treatment is because we will coordinate with the Cipayung Puskesmas; the plan is to take her to the Cipayung Puskesmas today,’ she said. The baby’s first cries were heard by a resident named Dinda, 20, who was on the second floor of her home at the time. She followed the sound to a shopping bag containing the baby and various items. ‘The witness checked inside the bag and saw a baby girl lying on her side, wearing a blue teddy bear-patterned outfit and wrapped in a baby blanket,’ said Pasar Minggu Police Chief, Commissioner Anggiat Sinambela, in a statement on Tuesday. Inside the bag were several baby items, such as boxed milk, wet wipes, blue gloves, and a note. The note stated that the baby had been given the initials AR and had been born on Monday, 2 March 2026. ‘Assalamualaikum, to the person who found my sister, I am Z and I ask you to take care of my sister, because my mother died during childbirth; please treat her as your own child, because I will not be able to visit her again, I don’t want her future to be like mine, thank you,’ the note read.
