YASOP and Artha Graha Peduli Shape Character of 360 Students Through Social Action

The YASOP Peduli 2026 programme has returned as a collaboration between the Tunas Bangsa Soposurung Foundation (YASOP), Artha Graha Peduli (AGP), and Paryasop (Yasop Alumni Association). Carrying the spirit of ‘From the Heart for Others’, this programme not only delivers social assistance but also serves as a vehicle for character education through real experiences of serving the community. Hundreds of basic food packages were distributed to heads of families in the Hinalang, Sangkar Ni Huta, Pagar Batu, and Balige Town areas of Toba Regency, North Sumatra, on Sunday (5/7). Each aid package contained rice, sugar, cooking oil, packets of instant noodles, and other items. The distribution was carried out door-to-door by 360 students of the Yasop boarding school as part of character building, leadership, social awareness, mutual cooperation, and community service. The activity was also attended by the Toba Regency Government. Toba Regent Effendi P. Napitupulu assessed that YASOP Peduli not only benefits the community but is also an important part of shaping the character of the younger generation. ‘The Toba Regency Government supports YASOP Peduli because it not only helps the community but also shapes the character of the younger generation. This programme is a real learning space for Yasop boarding students to develop awareness and the ability to interact directly with the community,’ said Effendi in a written statement on Monday (6/7/2026). To ensure the aid was well-targeted, the committee conducted data collection and verification of beneficiaries together with village officials using a digital survey application, assessing the condition of prospective recipients based on several criteria, home documentation, and GPS coordinate points. The entire process was designed so that distribution was well-targeted, verified, transparent, and accountable. The distribution of aid also involved local transport as a form of empowering the Balige community. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tunas Bangsa Soposurung Foundation, Luthfi Mangaratua Krida Silalahi, said YASOP Peduli is an implementation of character education realised through real action in the community. ‘YASOP Peduli 2026 is a tangible manifestation of the Tunas Bangsa Soposurung Foundation’s philosophy: Character First, Competence Second. We believe that character is the main foundation in forming leaders who are able to give meaning to others. Therefore, together with Artha Graha Peduli, we want to cultivate a generation of Tunas Bangsa who have integrity, empathy, and a spirit of service. From strong character, competence will grow and become a strength to work and serve the nation,’ he explained. In line with this, Husin, a representative from Artha Graha Peduli, emphasised that collaboration is key to delivering sustainable social benefits. ‘For Artha Graha Peduli, social activities are not just about distributing aid, but also about instilling the value of caring. Through collaboration in YASOP Peduli 2026, we hope the benefits can be felt by the community while also serving as a lesson for the younger generation to care, serve, and dedicate themselves to others,’ said Husin. YASOP Peduli reflects the spirit of togetherness between the Tunas Bangsa Soposurung Foundation, Artha Graha Peduli, and Paryasop. In this case, Artha Graha Peduli also involved the Artha Graha Network, Pasifik Agro Sentosa (PAS), Electronic City Indonesia (ECI), Bank Artha Graha Internasional (BAGI), and others. This collaboration affirms that caring is born from synergy, not from working alone, and is a tangible manifestation of the commitment to serve the community with heart. Through YASOP Peduli, the students not only handed over aid to the community but also learned to understand life directly. This experience is part of the process of forming leadership character based on empathy, caring, mutual cooperation, and a spirit of service to others.
