Yasinta Moiwend Denies Private Jet Allegations
Yasinta Moiwend, a Papuan indigenous leader and environmental activist from Merauke, South Papua, has firmly denied claims that she was intimidated by the TNI and flown to Jakarta on a private jet owned by businessman Haji Isam.
Mama Sinta stated that her trip to the capital was entirely her own initiative and at her own expense to seek justice over the unauthorised use of her image in the documentary “Pesta Babi”.
The denial comes in response to narratives spread by local media account @laolao_papua, which claimed she was forcibly picked up and facilitated by PT Jhonlin Group.
“It’s not true, it’s not true. I flew on a regular passenger plane. I did not take a helicopter from Haji Isam to Merauke or Boven Digoel. That’s nonsense. That’s provocation,” Mama Sinta said in a video on Sunday (31 May).
She added that she had never met Haji Isam and travelled independently from Wanam to Merauke, then purchased a flight ticket to Jayapura before arriving in Jakarta.
Regarding military involvement, the 62-year-old firmly denied any threats from the armed forces.
“The TNI did not pick me up, there was no intimidation. Why are you all so concerned about me? I came to Jakarta for my dignity,” she said.
Mama Sinta urged the public and certain parties not to link her personal matter to the National Strategic Projects (NSPs). She felt her dignity as a Papuan elder and woman was undermined by the repeated screening of her image in the “Pesta Babi” documentary without her consent.
“My face is everywhere from this film being shown. I’m hurt. Without my permission. That’s why I came to Jakarta. Stop it! From today, stop it! If anyone shows that film, please take legal action against them,” she pleaded.
To pursue legal action, Mama Sinta, accompanied by her lawyer TS Hamonangan Daulay, visited the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Criminal Investigation Department on Friday (29 May).
The complaint was officially registered under case number LP/B/3843/V/2026/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya, with the film’s organisers reported for alleged violations of Articles 65 and 67 of the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP Law).
Meanwhile, intelligence reports indicate attempts by certain groups to deliberately distort facts.
Reports suggest several civil society organisations and student groups held a meeting in Kimam on Saturday (30 May) to fabricate claims that Mama Sinta was taken to Jakarta after being threatened with being shot by authorities in Wanam.
However, Mama Sinta’s direct statement in Jakarta has debunked the entire disinformation narrative. “I’ve always lived alone. Don’t interfere in my affairs. I’m fine in Jakarta, so please stop,” she concluded. (Faj/Cah/P-3)
