Yaqut's pre-trial, KPK says state losses have been calculated by BPK
Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that the state losses were calculated by the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) in connection with the pretrial of former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in the case of alleged corruption involving an additional hajj quota for the 2023-2024 pilgrimage season.
‘The respondent has received BPK Letter Number 36 concerning the submission of the investigative audit report in the context of calculating the state losses from the Indonesian hajj quota in the haj pilgrimage for the year 2023 to 2024 at the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and other related agencies,’ said Indah Oktianti of the KPK’s Legal Bureau in the pretrial hearing at the Jakarta Selatan District Court, on Wednesday.
This was conveyed by the KPK’s legal counsel during the pretrial hearing in case number 19/Pid.Pra/2026/PN.Jkt.Sel at the Jakarta Selatan District Court while reading the duplik to the repliek submitted by the applicant Yaqut.
The KPK’s legal counsel said the agency had received the investigative audit report from BPK regarding the calculation of state losses in the matter.
Indah explained that the audit results found irregularities in the management of the haj pilgrimage.
According to her, the irregularities resulted in state losses amounting to Rp622 billion.
In its repliek, the KPK also emphasised that the designation of the suspect against the applicant was based on more than two pieces of evidence obtained during the investigation and prosecution stages.
The KPK said the evidence includes statements from more than 40 witnesses, more than 200 documents, expert testimony, and electronic evidence.
‘The applicant’s arguments having regard to that, the respondent responds that the applicant was examined before being named a suspect, as set out in the Minutes of the Request for Information dated 7 August 2025 signed by the applicant and the minutes dated 1 September 2025 signed by the applicant,’ he said.
The pretrial hearing tests the legality of the designation of Yaqut Cholil Qoumas as a suspect in the alleged corruption relating to the Indonesian hajj quota during the haj operations in 2023-2024 at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
