The camp of former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas has ensured that the process of transferring detention from detention centre to house arrest has met the applicable legal procedures.

“All transfer procedures have been fulfilled in accordance with the provisions,” stated Yaqut’s legal adviser, Dodi S Abdulkadir, when contacted by Kompas.com on Monday (23/3/2026).

Dodi emphasised that Yaqut has been cooperative throughout the legal process in the alleged corruption case regarding the 2023-2024 Hajj quota.

However, Dodi declined to provide further details on the reasons why the family applied for the transfer of detention.

It was reported that the KPK transferred the detention status of former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas from detention centre to house arrest.

“Investigators carried out a transfer of the type of detention against suspect YCQ, from detention in the KPK Detention Centre to house arrest, since Thursday night (19/3/2026),” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in his statement on Saturday (21/3/2026).

Budi said that this transfer of detention was carried out upon a request from the family submitted on Tuesday (17/3/2026).

Budi stated that this detention transfer is only temporary.

Yaqut only spent about 7 days, or one week, in prison.

He was officially detained by the KPK since Thursday night (12/3/2026).

At that time, Yaqut had just completed further examination as a suspect after his pre-trial was rejected by the single judge of the South Jakarta District Court.

In this case, Yaqut carried out several conditionings to regulate the Hajj quota for 2023-2024.

From changing regulations to technical implementation.
