Yaqut Undergoes Medical Examination This Afternoon, Preparation for Return to KPK Detention Centre?
Former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas is undergoing a medical examination after becoming a house detainee. The check-up is taking place this afternoon.
“Still undergoing the medical examination,” said Yaqut’s lawyer, Dodi Abdul Kadir, when contacted on Monday (23/3/2026).
Dodi did not specify the hospital location where Yaqut is being examined. He stated that this health check is to determine whether Yaqut’s condition allows him to be returned to the KPK detention centre.
“To ascertain his condition. We await the doctor’s opinion; it should still require treatment,” explained Dodi.
He added that today’s medical examination follows Yaqut not having undergone a comprehensive health check before being detained on Thursday (12/3).
As is known, Yaqut has been a KPK detainee since Thursday (19/3). This information was first revealed by the wife of former Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer (Noel), Silvia Rinita Harefa, after visiting Noel during the Eid al-Fitr moment on Saturday (21/3).
“This one, earlier I didn’t see Gus Yaqut. The info is he was released on Thursday night,” said Silvia at the KPK detention centre on Saturday (21/3).
Following the buzz from Noel’s wife’s testimony, the KPK then issued a statement confirming that Yaqut had become a house detainee. The KPK acknowledged that the change in detention status was not related to Yaqut’s health condition.
“Not because of illness. It was indeed due to a request from the family side, which we then processed,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Sunday (22/3).
