Former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) has completed his examination by the KPK today. After the examination, Yaqut admitted to being ill. “Alhamdulillah, the examination went smoothly. Regarding the substance, please ask the investigators, not me. Excuse me, I’m sick and need to rest,” Yaqut said at the KPK building in South Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3/2026). Yaqut was examined at 1:20 PM WIB and exited the examination room at 4:25 PM WIB. This examination was conducted after Yaqut returned to the status of KPK detention inmate. “The examination in this case is also needed to further investigate the alleged possibility of other parties who have a central role in the alleged corruption offence in question,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo. It is known that Yaqut had been under house arrest since Thursday (19/3). KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that house arrest for Yaqut was carried out after the KPK received a request from the family. The KPK then granted the request without providing further details on the family’s reasons for submitting the application. “So indeed because of a request from the family, then we processed it. Not because of the illness condition,” Budi explained on Sunday (22/3). This then drew criticism from many parties. The KPK then returned Yaqut’s status to detention inmate on Tuesday (24/3). Yaqut is a suspect in the alleged corruption case of the distribution of additional Hajj quotas in 2023-2024. In addition to Yaqut, the KPK has named Ishfah Abidal Aziz or Gus Alex as a suspect.
