Yaqut Brief After KPK Examination: I Need to Rest
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas was brief in his comments after undergoing examination as a suspect in the alleged corruption case regarding the 2023-2024 Hajj quota on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
“If it’s about the substance, please ask the investigators, not me. I’m tired. I need to rest,” Yaqut said at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Wednesday.
“Alhamdulillah, the examination went smoothly,” Yaqut revealed.
Previously, the KPK re-examined former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas as a suspect in the 2023-2024 Hajj quota corruption case, after he was once again detained in the KPK Detention Centre.
Yaqut, wearing a detainee vest with his hands handcuffed, was directly escorted into the KPK’s Merah Putih Building. Yaqut offered little comment on today’s examination.
He only expressed the usual apology conveyed during Eid al-Fitr.
“Please forgive me physically and spiritually, minal aidin walfaizin, Ja’alanallahu wa iyyakum minal ’aidin wal faizin,” Yaqut said at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
“In addition, the examination in this case is also needed to continue delving into the alleged possibility of other parties who have central roles in the alleged criminal act of corruption in question,” said Budi in his statement on Wednesday.
