Yangwang U9 Xtreme Becomes BYD's Most Expensive Car, Sells for Rp 44.5 Billion
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Chinese automaker BYD has once again shaken up the Beijing Auto Show 2026 through its ultra-luxury Yangwang line. In a bold move, the brand has officially introduced the Yangwang U9 Xtreme electric supercar, priced at a staggering figure. According to Carnewschina.com on Thursday (30/4/2026), BYD Group’s General Manager of Branding and Public Relations, Li Yunfei, confirmed that the U9 Xtreme is sold for more than 20 million yuan, equivalent to Rp 44.5 billion per unit (exchange rate of Rp 2,228 per yuan). Li Yunfei explained that this supercar is produced in extremely limited numbers, with only 30 units worldwide. Its presence is more than just a display, as at least one unit has been officially handed over to a customer at the exhibition site. This historic moment was personally conducted by BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu, who delivered the unit to the first owner. The electrical system uses an advanced 1200V architecture. The chassis is equipped with BYD’s signature full active DiSus-X suspension system. The braking sector relies on carbon-ceramic discs for maximum deceleration. In terms of performance, the U9 Xtreme has proven its prowess on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife racetrack in Germany, with a lap time of 6 minutes 59.157 seconds. This achievement places it at the top for the mass-produced electric vehicle category.
