YAMB Declares Freddy Wei as Chairman of New Board

The Methodist Bagansiapiapi Alumni Foundation (YAMB) has officially begun a new chapter in its leadership for the 2026–2031 period after declaring Freddy Wei as its new chairman in West Jakarta on Friday.

The declaration and board socialisation event, held at the Fortune Star Function Hall in Tamansari, served as a moment to strengthen cross-generational bonds while uniting the potential of Methodist Bagansiapiapi alumni from Riau Province.

“Today is not merely about forming a board. Today is the beginning of a journey and a commitment to build an alumni organisation that is strong, solid, and beneficial for all alumni and the wider community,” said YAMB chairman Freddy Wei in his address in Jakarta on Friday.

Freddy stressed that YAMB belongs to all alumni regardless of group or cohort. The diversity of ages, backgrounds, and professions is expected to become the organisation’s main strength in generating shared ideas and works.

“If all alumni join hands regardless of cohort, background, or profession, I believe YAMB will become an organisation that benefits all alumni and the community,” Freddy said.

On the same occasion, YAMB advisory board member Wanto Asnim said that the establishment of a legal entity in the form of a foundation aims to broaden the reach of social activities, both within the alumni community and for the general public.

He expressed hope that the new board would continue to strengthen fellowship and prioritise mutual assistance, particularly for alumni in need.

“Without a foundation, we cannot provide contributions and social assistance optimally. This foundation was established to build fellowship and mutual help among alumni, especially those who are less fortunate,” Wanto said.

YAMB is a collective platform that brings together Methodist Bagansiapiapi alumni from primary, junior high, and senior high school levels. To date, the organisation encompasses around 5,000 members across generations, from the 1970 cohort to 2026.
