TOKYO (Reuter): Japanese musical instrument maker Yamaha Corp said yesterday it has set up a wholly owned unit in East Java, Indonesia, to produce and sell components of woodwind instruments.
The new company, PT Yamaha Musical Products Indonesia, is capitalized at US$9.50 million. It plans to start producing components with a production value of $6 million in the year beginning April 1998. The production value is expected to rise to $20 million in 2001/02.
The components produced by the new company will be sold to Yamaha's two assembly plants in Japan and an assembly plant in Michigan.
