Former lecturer at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim, Imam Muslimin or Yai Mim, passed away moments before being examined by investigators from the Satreskrim of Polresta Malang Kota. The legal proceedings were subsequently halted in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). “Regarding the handling of the case involving Yai Mim, we have issued an SP3 (termination of investigation),” stated the Head of Satreskrim of Polresta Malang Kota, AKP Rahmad Aji Prabowo, as reported by detikJatim, at Polresta Malang Kota on Tuesday afternoon (14/4/2026). Rahmad Aji added that the termination of the investigation is based on Article 24 of the KUHAP. If Yai Mim’s status was as a suspect, the ongoing legal process is halted. “In accordance with Article 24 of the KUHAP, it states that if the suspect passes away, the investigation process can be terminated,” emphasised Rahmad Aji. The Head of Satreskrim explained that investigators had previously planned to take Yai Mim’s statement in another case, where his status was as the complainant. It is known that in that case, Yai Mim reported a resident with initials F, his neighbour in Perum Kavling Depag III Atas, Merjosari Ward, Lowokwaru Subdistrict, Malang City, on suspicion of assault. “He was to be examined as the complainant in another case. Suspicion of assault with the suspect F (his neighbour),” he concluded.
