Yai Mim Dies, Case Handling Halted
Former lecturer at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim, Imam Muslimin or Yai Mim, has passed away just as investigators from Satreskrim Polresta Malang Kota were about to question him. The police have therefore halted the handling of his case in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). “Regarding the handling of the case related to Yai Mim, we are issuing an SP3 (termination of investigation),” said Head of Satreskrim Polresta Malang Kota, AKP Rahmad Aji Prabowo, to reporters at Polresta Malang Kota on Tuesday (14/4/2026) afternoon, quoted from detikJatim. Rahmad Aji further added that the termination of the investigation is as per Article 24 of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). If Yai Mim’s status was that of a suspect, the ongoing legal process will be stopped. “In accordance with Article 24 of the KUHAP, it states that if the suspect dies, the investigation process can be halted,” emphasised Rahmad Aji. Rahmad Aji explained that at the time of the incident, investigators planned to take Yai Mim’s statement in another case, where his status was as a complainant. “He was to be questioned by investigators regarding Yai Mim as the complainant,” he said. For information, in that case, Yai Mim had reported a resident with initials F, his neighbour in Perum Kavling Depag III Atas, Merjosari Ward, Lowokwaru Subdistrict, Malang City, on suspicion of assault. “He was to be examined as the complainant, regarding another case. Suspicion of assault with suspect F (his neighbour),” he concluded. Previously reported, the former lecturer at Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim (UIN Maliki), Imam Muslimin or Yai Mim, has passed away. Yai Mim died while in status as a pornography suspect detainee at Polresta Malang. “Yes, it’s true, suspect Imam Muslimin has passed away,” said Head of Public Relations Section of Polresta Malang Kota, Ipda Lukman Shobikin, on Tuesday (13/4).
