XXI cinema audiences reach 85 million in 2025
In 2025, the XXI cinema network recorded 85 million moviegoers, reflecting growth in the national film industry and rising visits to premium studios. The figure was disclosed by PT Nusantara Sejahtera Raya Tbk, the operator of the XXI cinema network, in its 2025 performance report. Suryo Suherman, Chief Executive Officer of XXI, said public interest in watching films remained high despite evolving economic conditions and the entertainment industry. ‘In the midst of the economic and industry dynamics, XXI maintains its business performance and continually provides the best cinema experience for film enthusiasts across Indonesia. Trust and collaboration among all stakeholders are the main pillars in sustaining the company’s performance,’ he said in a written statement on Friday 6 March 2026. Revenue from ticket sales amounted to Rp3.6 trillion. Food and beverage sales reached Rp2 trillion. Other revenue of Rp298 billion came from advertising, digital platforms, and event management. The average ticket price was Rp46,057, up 3 percent from the previous year. The rise was driven by occupancies in premium studios such as The Premiere and IMAX. Audience spending on food and beverages also rose, with average expenditure per viewer reaching Rp25,814, up 5.9 percent from the year before. During 2025, XXI expanded its cinema network, opening 12 new cinemas with 43 additional screens. The expansion covered several new areas including Indramayu, Pematangsiantar, Magelang, Tuban, and Kota Metro in Lampung. ‘The network expansion undertaken in 2025 is part of a long-term strategy to broaden access to quality entertainment across Indonesia. Going forward, we will continue to accelerate the addition of new screens selectively, while maintaining service quality,’ Suryo said. The company regards the outlook for the film industry as still growth-oriented. In 2025, more than 20 national and international films each recorded more than one million viewers. Two national films exceeded 10 million viewers: Jumbo and Agak Laen: Menyala Pantiku!. Suryo noted that these achievements indicate growing public interest in national films.
