Xpeng Leans on Technology and AI to Offer Added Value in Electric Cars

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Chinese electric-vehicle manufacturer Xpeng is emphasising technology and artificial intelligence (AI) as the main value-add of its products in Indonesia. Hari Arifianto, Xpeng Indonesia’s VP Marketing, said the approach differentiates it from other electric-vehicle brands that focus more on vehicle specifications. ‘Always look for new opportunities to add value for customers. For example, we are strong in IT and AI. Technology and AI,’ Hari said in Jakarta on Thursday 5 March 2026. ‘That’s why our cars, which previously could not karaoke, can now karaoke without a microphone. That’s our advantage that truly sets our products apart from others,’ Hari added. In addition, Xpeng vehicles also feature a smart voice-command function called X-Combo that allows the car to perform several functions at once with a single voice command. ‘Software updates don’t require a trip to the workshop. As long as there is Wi-Fi at home, they update and execute directly. It’s like a smartphone,’ Hari said. He added that technology use is also evident in the 360-degree camera function, which can serve as an additional security system through X-Guard, without needing to install a separate camera as a dashcam.
