Xpeng Indonesia Cautious About Pricing for a New Car
Xpeng Indonesia plans to launch a new car this year. It is unlikely to be a sedan like the P7 shown at IIMS 2026, but rather an SUV or MPV. Given Xpeng’s current product lineup, which sits roughly between Rp600 million and Rp1 billion, the new model could niche into that range. It could also target a price segment below that. Hari Arifianto, Xpeng Indonesia’s VP of Marketing, said pricing must be carefully considered to ensure the product offers lasting value to consumers. He warned that an overly competitive segment could trigger a price war, which could ultimately harm customers in the long term. “People will feel sorry for the customers; we don’t want them to be harmed. The aim is to add value, not just for them to enjoy the vehicle but for the value to be good as well,” Hari said. “The target segment isn’t only about luxury, but also technology,” Hari added. He explained that Xpeng has several technological advantages, including in-house chip development and the application of artificial intelligence. The upcoming Xpeng products will have the same technological value as the current models.
