XPeng, the Chinese automotive company, has officially launched the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variant of its G6 SUV coupé, with prices starting from 186,800 yuan (approximately $27,080) or around Rp458 million. Carnewschina reported on Friday 6 March local time that one of the G6 EREV’s main strengths is its rapid charging capability, enabling the car to gain 314 km of range in just 12 minutes of charging. In addition, the vehicle has a pure electric range of up to 430 km (CLTC), claimed to be enough for daily mobility for about a week without recharging. The model combines a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine as a range extender with an electric motor system. The engine does not directly drive the wheels but serves as a generator to recharge the battery when power is running low. On the energy side, the G6 EREV employs an LFP battery with a capacity of around 55.8 kWh, paired with a 60-litre fuel tank. The system uses an 800-volt architecture with 5C charging technology, allowing battery charging to take place much faster than conventional electric vehicles. The EREV variant retains the coupe-style fastback silhouette of the pure-electric version, measuring 4,771 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,650 mm in height. The model is also equipped with Xpeng’s second-generation AI VLA (Vision-Language-Action), delivering an effective computing power of 2,250 TOPS. Active safety capabilities include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Autonomous Emergency Steering (AES) support at speeds up to 130 km/h, as well as stability control against tyre blowouts at high speeds up to 180 km/h. The chassis uses independent front double-wishbone suspension and a five-link rear suspension, with adaptive DCC dampers and a hydraulic bushing system called ‘Taiji’. With a combined range of 1,704 km and an 800-volt architecture, the G6 EREV is positioned to capture market share below the threshold of 200,000 yuan (about $29,000) or under Rp500 million.
