Xpeng Indonesia’s Vice President of Marketing, Hari Arifianto, said there is a shift in sales trends indicating a change in consumer preferences for Xpeng electric vehicles in Indonesia. In a media briefing in Jakarta on Thursday, he noted that sales of the Xpeng X9 and Xpeng G6 are now almost evenly matched. ‘Previously the X9 could account for up to 80 percent of sales and the G6 only 20 percent; now it is nearly 50:50. This is a very positive development,’ Hari said. The changes begun when Xpeng first participated in the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2026 in February, he added, indicating that the Xpeng market is no longer dominated by early-adopter customers who choose flagship models and pay cash. He said purchases used to be mostly cash, but now the share of credit purchases is almost equal to cash purchases. ‘In other words, the segment is broader. Not only hobby buyers or those with strong finances, but also consumers who use EV as a second vehicle,’ Hari stated. Xpeng has held a ceremony for the handover of the 1,000th vehicle in Indonesia. The company is currently assembling its vehicles at its production facility in Purwakarta, and the domestic content level (TKDN) in its vehicles is above 40 percent. ‘The lead time for the G6, which previously could exceed three months, is now shrinking as production capacity improves,’ Hari said.
