XLSMART Secures International Technology Innovation Award at MWC 2026
XLSMART Secures Two International Awards at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona, Spain. MWC is the world’s largest telecommunications technology trade show, attended by thousands of companies from around the world. XLSMART won the ‘Innovative Technology Breakthrough Award’ in the Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) category, recognising breakthroughs in 5G and Ultra 5G innovation by operators, vendors, and ecosystem partners globally. In addition, XLSMART received the ‘Fastest 5G Network’ accolade from Ookla Speedtest Award.
XLSMART’s Director and Chief Regulatory Officer, Merza Fachys, said these two awards mark a milestone in reinforcing XLSMART’s position as Indonesia’s most innovative operator. The achievement also acknowledges the company’s technology capabilities at regional and global levels in integrating post-merger networks with superior efficiency and stability. ‘This achievement underlines XLSMART’s commitment as a digital services leader focused on customer experience, delivering reliable, adaptable, and timely connectivity,’ he said in a written statement released on Friday (6 March 2026). ‘For us, these awards are not just recognition; they are motivation and a challenge to keep innovating. Looking ahead, XLSMART will continue investing in technology and network quality to deliver an ever-better experience for all Indonesian customers.’
GTI Award 2026: The GTI Innovative Technology Breakthrough Award was presented to XLSMART on 3 March 2026 in Barcelona, Spain. The award was conferred by the Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) for XLSMART’s success in implementing 5G-Advanced (5G-A) Intelligent Core Network. The innovation includes a cloud-native core network architecture integrated with AI capabilities to boost operational efficiency. The GTI Award is among the most influential innovation accolades in the global mobile telecommunications industry. The evaluation process for the GTI Award is annual and global, with participants from Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. The assessment period runs from January 2026 to the event, including submission, expert panel review, and final selection of finalists from various operators, vendors, and ecosystem partners. The evaluation panel comprises global telecommunications industry experts, including representatives from operators, vendors, industry organisations, and independent technical analysts, including members of the GTI ecosystem. Key innovation advantages underpinning XLSMART’s awards include Green 5G Core, which reduces energy consumption across the network lifecycle by up to 20%; Intelligent Paging, optimising RAN load by more than 10%; and AIOps, which further automates O&M, reducing resource usage and operational expenditures.
Ookla Award 2026: At MWC, XLSMART also received the ‘Fastest 5G Network’ award in Indonesia from Ookla. Ookla is the global company behind Speedtest. The award recognises XLSMART’s network performance based on Ookla testing with users during Q3–Q4 2025, during which XLSMART posted the highest speed score of 45.85, ahead of other mobile operators in Indonesia. Ookla uses a modified trimean methodology balancing the median and data distribution to ensure accuracy of download and upload speed data. This accolade reflects tangible gains in capacity and network efficiency achieved post-merger. Customers should experience faster, more stable, and reliable connectivity, supporting productivity, entertainment, and everyday digital connectivity needs.
Digital Visionary Award – OTF Officials: At MWC, XLSMART also received the Digital Visionary Award from OTF Officials for Shurish Subbramaniam, Director & Chief Technology Officer, for leadership in driving digital transformation, connectivity innovation, and AI-powered operations, including in designing the network integration of one of Southeast Asia’s most complex telecom mergers.
