Surabaya (ANTARA) - PT XLSmart Telecom Sejahtera Tbk (XLSmart) has ensured that the 5G connectivity currently being accelerated by the company will offer stable services not only for one brand but across all three of its brands, namely XL, Axis, and Smartfren.

Merza Fachyz, Director and Chief Regulatory Officer of XLSmart, stated that the company is not merely using frequency spectrum to deploy 5G for a single service brand, but is ensuring that the use of that frequency spectrum is distributed across all three brands.

“These three brands (XL, Axis, Smartfren) are all under the auspices of PT XLSmart, and no others. Therefore, all three naturally use the same network. What is the same? The same excellence, the same quality, the same coverage, the same stability, and the same affordability,” said Merza during the XLSmart Media Gathering Update 2026 event in Surabaya on Friday.

Regarding the individual bands, Shurish stated that XLSmart possesses slots of 40 MHz and 50 MHz, providing a total of 90 MHz for 5G expansion.

Meanwhile, other frequency bands, specifically 700 MHz and 850 MHz, are being utilised to support 4G connectivity to ensure its quality remains maintained.

To ensure that 5G utilisation is also optimal in Indonesia, XLSmart is not only focusing on digital infrastructure procurement but is also collaborating with smartphone distributors so that devices capable of connecting to 5G networks are available at affordable prices.

In addition to distributors, XLSmart is also coordinating with technology brands that provide advanced devices to ensure their technology can be aligned with the 5G frequency bands in Indonesia.

“We are also working with OEMs such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Samsung, Apple, and the government to ‘turn on’ 5G technology. Since this is a new spectrum, they may not be aware of it yet. Now that it has been announced, we have requested them to provide new software via over-the-air (OTA) updates so that 5G connectivity can be activated immediately,” said Shurish.
