XL Showcases 5G Network, Reveals Evidence of Fastest Internet

XL has for the first time dominated the 5G network, as evidenced by the latest report released by independent measurement firm Ookla. Through the Speedtest Awards for the first half of 2026, XL ranked first as the operator with the best national mobile network performance. In addition to winning Best Mobile Network Indonesia, XL also scooped three 5G categories: Best 5G Network, Fastest 5G, and Best 5G Video Experience. The measurements in this report cover mobile network speed, 5G service quality, video experience, and customer experience consistency based on millions of tests via the Speedtest application across Indonesia. In Ookla’s assessment, the Fastest 5G category is based on a Speed Score that accounts for 70 per cent download speed, 20 per cent upload speed, and 10 per cent loading latency. Meanwhile, the Best Mobile Network and Best 5G Network awards use a Speedtest Connectivity Score comprising 50 per cent speed score, 25 per cent video experience score, and 25 per cent web browsing score. The Best 5G Video Experience award is calculated based on 33.33 per cent video start time, 33.33 per cent uninterrupted playback, and 33.33 per cent Full HD resolution. Based on Ookla’s measurements in the first half of 2026, XL recorded a Speedtest Connectivity Score of 72.74 for the Best 5G Network category, 71.74 for Best Mobile Network, a Speed Score of 51.29 for Fastest 5G, and a Video Score of 91.6 for Best 5G Video Experience. XL’s Ultra 5G+ network currently reaches more than 50 cities and regencies in Indonesia. The company is targeting coverage expansion to 88 cities and regencies by the end of 2026. Overall, the XLSMART network is supported by more than 253,000 BTS serving over 69 million customers across Indonesia.
