Jakarta (ANTARA) – Xiaomi has introduced an experimental artificial intelligence (AI) project named Xiaomi miclaw, an autonomous AI assistant designed to perform tasks across various applications and features on smartphones.

According to Gizmochina’s report on Friday, Xiaomi described miclaw as an early-stage experimental product built on the company’s internal large language model (LLM) called MiMo.

Unlike conventional AI assistants that merely answer questions or generate text, miclaw is designed to understand the user’s intent and complete tasks through direct interaction with various features and apps within the phone.

Once the user grants permission, the AI can access system functions as well as supported third-party apps to execute commands.

Thus, the AI can decide which features or apps to use and the steps required to complete a task.

For example, if a request requires opening an application, checking system data, or activating a particular feature, the AI will determine the necessary steps and execute them sequentially.

At the core of the system is a mechanism called an inference-execution loop.

In this process, the AI first analyses the user’s request, then selects the appropriate tools and parameters.

Thereafter, the AI will execute the actions, review the results, and continue the process until the task is completed.

Each step is executed synchronously so as not to impede other processes running on the device.

The AI assistant will store important context from the interaction and also summarise long conversations to maintain memory of the task’s longer-term objectives.

Additionally, the AI assistant can connect to the Xiaomi ecosystem through integration with the Mi Home smart home platform.

This integration allows the AI to read the status of smart home devices and send commands when the user provides permission.

Xiaomi is opening this AI assistant to developers.

The miclaw system supports the Model Context Protocol, an open standard for AI tool integration, enabling AI utilities already available on other platforms to work with the system.

In addition, Xiaomi released a software development kit that allows third-party applications to declare their capabilities and features so they can be invoked by the AI when required.
