Jakarta (ANTARA) - Xiaomi President Lu Weibing confirmed during the company’s first-quarter 2026 earnings conference on Tuesday, 26 May, that Xiaomi will release a new operating system in July or August 2026. Lu did not name the OS, but Gizmochina reported on Tuesday that the system in question is likely HyperOS 4. The next-generation Xiaomi OS is expected to use a proprietary architecture developed by the company. During the earnings call, Lu also stated that Xiaomi would continue its global expansion strategy and prioritise artificial intelligence (AI) in future smartphone development plans. AI presents significant growth opportunities for the smartphone industry, he added, noting that the integration of AI and Miclaw would be a key milestone for the company this year. Miclaw is Xiaomi’s autonomous AI assistant for smartphones, capable of executing tasks across various apps and system features. Xiaomi reported total revenue of 99.1 billion yuan and net profit of 6.1 billion yuan for Q1 2026 during the earnings call. The company also highlighted its continued position among the top three global smartphone brands by shipment volume for 23 consecutive quarters. Xiaomi stated that its smartphone business is increasingly moving towards the premium segment. The global average selling price of its smartphones rose 8.2% year-on-year to a new record high. Premium smartphones now account for 23.5% of Xiaomi’s total smartphone sales in the Chinese market.
