Xiaomi to debut humanoid robot at World Robot Conference 2026

Chinese technology company Xiaomi has confirmed it will debut its first humanoid robot on the global stage at the World Robot Conference 2026, which takes place from 19 to 23 August in Beijing, China.

According to a report by Gizmochina on Tuesday (18/8), the news was confirmed by Xiaomi President Lu Weibing during the Xiaomi Group’s financial results conference.

Lu said Xiaomi is targeting the humanoid robot to meet the needs of smart manufacturing factories, enabling the robot to take over some manual work.

Lu further emphasised that the robot will not be developed separately but will instead be integrated with Xiaomi’s ecosystem, which embraces the concept of ‘people, cars, and home’.

With this approach, the robot is expected to align with technology in other product lines and be compatible not only with smart factory systems but also with intelligent transport and even smart homes.

Several months earlier, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun shared a video clip showing the company’s humanoid robots ‘interning’ at a Xiaomi car factory for four months.

During the internship period, the robots demonstrated good performance in nut installation tasks that require two-sided work.

After succeeding in that position, the robots were given a new role in the final assembly workshop and achieved a 90 percent success rate for tasks involving folding the side cover of the centre console and handling material boxes.

The achievement marked the first time the robots were able to handle long-duration work with flexible component parts.

When unveiled at the World Robot Conference 2026, the public will be able to see how Xiaomi’s robots can operate outside internal testing and how they can be used in everyday scenarios.
