Xiaomi Records Surge in Electric Vehicle Sales in April 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Xiaomi recorded a significant increase in electric vehicle sales in April 2026, with deliveries exceeding 30,000 units to customers. The Arena EV website reported on Sunday (3 May) local time that April sales rose compared to March, which reached 21,440 units. This sales surge shows that Xiaomi is beginning to overcome previous production fluctuations. Xiaomi targets deliveries of 550,000 EV units by the end of 2026. This target is more than 30 per cent higher than the 2025 sales realisation of 410,000 units. One of the main contributors to sales is the Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan model. By the end of April, around 60,000 consumers had ordered the latest version of the vehicle, with 26,000 units delivered since its debut on 19 March 2026. In addition, the Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV has also driven sales growth. The model, launched in June 2025, has sold 231,000 units over 10 months. Xiaomi is also preparing to launch a new high-performance car, the Xiaomi YU7 GT, at the end of May 2026. This model is designed as a high-performance vehicle that is claimed to remain comfortable for long-distance journeys. The YU7 GT measures 5,015 mm in length, 2,007 mm in width, and 1,597 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. The vehicle is equipped with two electric motors delivering a total power of 738 kW or about 990 horsepower. The car is claimed to reach a top speed of up to 300 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about two seconds. In addition to performance, the YU7 GT offers a range of up to 705 km on a single charge based on China’s CLTC testing standard. The car is estimated to be priced between 450,000 and 500,000 yuan, or approximately Rp1.1 billion to Rp1.2 billion. To support market expansion, Xiaomi has operated 495 stores in 143 cities as of the end of April and plans to add distribution networks in various new cities throughout May 2026.
