Xiaomi showcased the camera phone product of its latest collaboration with Leica, the Xiaomi Leica Leitzphone, at the launch of the Xiaomi 17 Series in Indonesia on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. The Xiaomi Leica Leitzphone is designed to mark Leica’s 100th anniversary. The device emerges as a collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica, bringing Leica’s design heritage and classic photography philosophy into a smartphone. Although its specifications are largely based on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the Leica Leitzphone is positioned as a device that emphasises Leica’s distinctive photography experience. ‘Leica Leitzphone is not just a smartphone. It is a photography revolution created for those who value detail,’ said Jeksen on stage at the launch. According to Jeksen, Leica played a crucial role in shaping every aesthetic detail of the Xiaomi Leica Leitzphone, including the classic frame and the iconic red dot that adorns the corners of the device. ‘The distinctive feature of Leitzphone lies in details such as the texture of the classic frame and the iconic Leica red dot that decorates the corners,’ added Jeksen. The phone’s body is made using aluminium alloy with a nickel-anodised coating, claimed to give a premium yet robust feel. The red dot Leica logo, a hallmark of the legendary cameras, is retained. The logo is positioned vertically on the back, at the top-left corner of the device’s rear. As a phone focused on photography experience, the camera module on the Xiaomi Leica Leitzphone also stands out with a large circular design resembling a professional camera lens. Within this module, there is the Leica Camera Ring, a mechanical ring with knurling texture that can rotate like a dial on a camera lens. The Leica Camera Ring enables users to manually adjust various camera parameters, from zoom, ISO, exposure to shutter speed.
