Xiaomi launches two new SUVs under Skynomad brand
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Xiaomi has launched two new SUV models under the Skynomad brand, namely the N70 and N90. Unlike the previously released SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV, the N70 and N90 do not rely solely on electric power, according to a report by CarsCoops on Friday.
The N70 and N90 utilise extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) technology, which combines a Changan 1.5-litre engine with a battery and electric motor. The engine, capable of producing 150 hp, does not directly drive the wheels but functions solely to maintain the electrical flow.
The Skynomando N70 and N90 are available with two battery options: a 52 kWh lithium-ion pack or a 76 kWh NMC battery. The battery capacities are considered comparable to several pure electric vehicle models. Although this adds weight to the vehicles, the large battery capacity can provide impressive pure-electric ranges.
The Skynomad N70 is available with a choice of a 1.5-litre engine paired with a single electric motor, or a dual-motor setup with a 76 kWh battery. This vehicle can travel up to 505 km on pure electric power based on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC).
The larger Skynomad N90 uses the same powertrain system. Due to its larger size and weight, the pure-electric range for this model is shorter, at 464 km according to CLTC standards. According to the company, charging the 76 kWh battery from 20 per cent to 80 per cent takes only 18 minutes using a DC fast charger. Meanwhile, information regarding the range for the 52 kWh battery variant has not yet been disclosed.
The N90 is slightly taller than the N70, with a height of 1,825 mm compared to the N70’s 1,785 mm. However, both models share the same width of 1,998 mm. The N90 has a wheelbase of 3,080 mm, while the N70 features a 2,950 mm wheelbase. The extra space between the wheels allows Xiaomi to add a third row of seats in the N90. The N90 features a three-row seating configuration in a 2+2+3 layout, whereas the N70 only offers five seats.
Both vehicle models are produced and marketed in China. The standard N70 model with a 76 kWh battery is priced starting from 259,900 yuan (approximately Rp690 million), while the N90 Max is priced starting from 299,900 yuan (approximately Rp800 million). Pre-orders for both models are now open, with deliveries scheduled to begin at the end of this quarter.
