Xiaomi: Chinese Flagship Smartphones Could Reach Prices of Rp 25 Million

The prices of Chinese flagship smartphones are likely to increase further, according to a recent warning from Xiaomi President Lu Weibing. According to the Xiaomi executive, flagship device prices could be set at more than 10,000 yuan (around Rp 25.7 million) by the end of 2026.

If this occurs, the price hike would be considered drastic. For comparison, current Xiaomi flagships, such as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, are priced starting from 6,999 yuan (approximately Rp 17.9 million) for the 12/512 GB RAM variant. However, Weibing did not specify whether his projections refer to base RAM variants or top-tier models.

This warning regarding the price surge is based on the rising cost of memory, which smartphone vendors are finding increasingly difficult to circumvent. Despite the potential increase, Weibing assured consumers that the company remains focused on providing value wherever possible.

The Xiaomi executive also explained that supply issues cannot be quickly resolved by memory manufacturers. Consequently, Weibing believes that the pressure from memory prices will continue until 2027 or even 2028.

Regarding upcoming smartphones such as the Xiaomi 17 Max, pricing is still under internal discussion due to fluctuating component costs. This device is scheduled for release in May 2026 as a new model in the Xiaomi 17 flagship series.

If Lu Weibing’s warning proves accurate, it will mark a significant shift for the Chinese smartphone market. The challenges posed by rising memory and component costs are likely to affect other smartphone vendors, including Oppo, Vivo, and Honor. Historically, the aggressive pricing of Chinese smartphones has been a primary attraction for consumers.
