Xi to Discuss Global Situation with Leaders at BRICS Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping will discuss the international situation and efforts to deepen cooperation with leaders of BRICS nations at the BRICS Summit, stated Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning on Friday.

“Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the summit, deliver an important speech, and exchange in-depth views with other leaders on key issues, such as the current international situation, the development of BRICS mechanisms, and efforts to deepen pragmatic cooperation,” Mao said during a press conference.

The BRICS Summit is scheduled to take place on 12-13 September in New Delhi.

BRICS is an intergovernmental group established in 2006. In addition to Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, BRICS now includes Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Malaysia, Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Uganda, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam will become BRICS partner countries starting 1 January 2025.
