Xi says all fighting in the Middle East must end immediately
Beijing, ANTARA – Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday (20 May) said that the situation in the Gulf region of the Middle East is at a critical juncture between war and peace, and all fighting must end immediately. Xi made the remarks during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is paying a state visit to China. Xi stressed that renewed fighting must be avoided and that most importantly, negotiations should be continued. According to him, ending the war would ease disruptions to energy supply stability, smooth running of supply chains and the international trading order. “I have put forward four proposals to safeguard and advance peace and stability in the Middle East in order to strengthen international consensus, and help ease the situation, end the fighting, and promote peace,” Xi said.
