Xi praises historic leap in China-Kyrgyzstan relations

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday praised a historic leap in China-Kyrgyzstan relations into an increasingly strategic and comprehensive partnership for a new era. Xi made the remarks in a signed article published in several Kyrgyz media outlets ahead of his state visit to the Central Asian country. In the article, Xi urged China and Kyrgyzstan to strengthen good-neighbourly friendship, remain committed to mutually beneficial cooperation that brings shared benefits, carry forward the traditional friendship between the two countries, and uphold multilateralism. Calling on China and Kyrgyzstan to enhance practical cooperation in both quality and scope, with high-quality Belt and Road Initiative cooperation as the main focus, Xi urged the two countries to work together to create a new chapter of high-quality development in bilateral relations. Xi also called on China and Kyrgyzstan to firmly oppose hegemony, unilateralism, and bloc confrontation.
