Xi Jinping and Trump discuss Ukraine crisis in Beijing

Beijing (ANTARA) - Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump discussed the Ukraine crisis during their meeting in Beijing, according to a report by the Xinhua News Agency on Thursday.

The two leaders also exchanged views on major international and regional issues, such as the situation in the Middle East and the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Earlier on the same occasion, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Thursday that China and the US have agreed to build a constructive, strategic, and stable relationship as part of a new effort by the two countries to build better relations.

“Together with President Trump, we have agreed to form a ‘constructive, strategic, and stable relationship between China and the US’ as a new effort to enhance China-US relations,” said Xi Jinping during the meeting with US President Donald Trump, as quoted by the Xinhua News Agency.

Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Saturday (9/5) that interaction between Russia and China is the most important factor in stabilising international relations.

Speaking at a press conference, Putin described cooperation between countries like China and Russia as a “clear factor of deterrence and stability” in global affairs.

He said that China is Russia’s largest trading and economic partner, adding that bilateral trade diversification continues through high-tech industries, which is very important.

Regarding the Ukraine crisis, Putin said he is ready to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky not only in Moscow, but also in a third country, but only to sign an agreement on a final peace deal.
