Xi Jinping: AI Brings Opportunities and Governance Challenges

Beijing (ANTARA) - Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday stated that the world is entering a period of intensely powerful innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) technology, bringing great opportunities as well as governance challenges. In a keynote speech delivered at the opening of the World AI Conference 2026 and the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance, Xi said humanity must answer the various problems of this era. He posed questions about how humanity can coexist with thinking machines, how security can be guaranteed when algorithms are involved in decision-making, how the ethical challenges posed by technology can be addressed through adaptive governance, and how AI for all can be realised when the gap continues to widen. Xi said these issues require serious consideration and answers from the entire international community.
