XCMG Strengthens Belt and Road Human Resources Development Cooperation with Programme for Uzbek and Indonesian Students
Xuzhou, China (ANTARA/PRNewswire) – XCMG Group has recently launched education programmes for students from Uzbekistan and Indonesia in Xuzhou. The programmes form part of the company’s efforts to develop young talent in Belt and Road partner countries through international education cooperation. Students will receive language and academic instruction, technical training and work experience, supporting the development of local workforces and XCMG’s overseas operations.
The programme for Uzbek students officially opened on 13 October at Xuzhou University of Technology. On the occasion, XCMG also inaugurated a construction machinery training facility.
The programme was developed by XCMG, Xuzhou University of Technology and Urgench State University under a staged “2+1+1” scheme for undergraduate students. Urgench State University is responsible for selecting students and providing their initial education, while Xuzhou University of Technology provides academic and language instruction. XCMG’s Global Learning and Education Center works with the company’s operating units in Uzbekistan to prepare industry-relevant training materials and provide internship opportunities.
The programme for Indonesian students was launched at Xuzhou College of Industrial Technology. Under a “1.5+0.5+1” scheme, students will undertake language study, skills training and work placements at XCMG operating units overseas. The programme aims to train technical professionals with a range of skills suited to local business needs.
The education and training programmes align with the development of XCMG’s business in Indonesia. The company has operated in Indonesia for more than 30 years, with activities spanning research and development (R&D), manufacturing, product supply, sales, services and financing. This year, XCMG inaugurated a new-energy manufacturing base in Indonesia and began building the XCMG Indonesia Remanufacturing Centre. These steps have expanded the company’s activities beyond product exports towards integrated local operations. Nearly 80% of XCMG’s workforce in Indonesia is now local. The company says it continues to create jobs and develop skilled professionals.
To meet workforce needs across its overseas markets, XCMG has adopted the GEMS framework. The programme’s name combines the concept of “Global” with three human resources categories: Executive Functional Staff, Management & Sales Backbone, and Skilled Service Specialists. Through cooperation between educational institutions in China and other countries, GEMS also prepares local workers to meet staffing needs at overseas business units, helping them operate more efficiently and cost-effectively.
To date, XCMG’s education cooperation programmes for Uzbek and Indonesian students have included three cohorts, with nearly 60 students in total.
XCMG says it will continue to expand cooperation with educational institutions, creating opportunities for young people in various countries to gain education, industry experience and cross-cultural insight. The effort is also intended to strengthen the supply of skilled local workers to support XCMG’s operations in international markets.
