xAI Releases AI Grok 4.3 with Affordable API Pricing and Advanced Voice Cloning Feature
Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has officially launched its latest large language model (LLM), named Grok 4.3, along with an advanced voice cloning feature. This launch follows the departure of ten of its initial founders and dozens of other researchers from xAI. Previous versions of the Grok model had been overtaken by AI models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Chinese models such as DeepSeek, Moonshot (Kimi), and Alibaba (Qwen). Now, xAI is attempting to recapture the market by setting an extremely aggressive and affordable price for Grok 4.3. Access to the Grok 4.3 API is priced at $1.25 per one million input tokens and $2.50 per one million output tokens, according to KompasTekno citing VentureBeat. According to Artificial Analysis, this rate is 40 percent cheaper for input and 60 percent cheaper for output compared to Grok 4.2. This pricing even positions Grok 4.3 on par with the costs of Chinese open-source AI models, such as Xiaomi MiMo, MiniMax, and Z.ai. Grok 4.3 was initially tested in April for SuperGrok customers ($30 per month) and X Premium+ users ($40 per month). Now, the model is widely accessible to the public through xAI’s API or third-party partners like OpenRouter. In addition to the base price, xAI has introduced several unique pricing schemes for developers. There is a penalty fee of $0.05 if a user’s instructions violate guidelines and are blocked by the AI’s safety filter. Developers can also receive a memory discount (prompt caching) at $0.20 per million tokens, and an additional fee of $5 to $10 for every 1,000 tool usage calls. The system is designed to always “think” before responding, with each step of its reasoning billed as Reasoning tokens to the user. Grok 4.3, which can accept text and image inputs, is equipped with a context window of up to one million tokens.
