Jakarta — The digital platform X has set a minimum user age limit of 16 years in Indonesia as part of its compliance with Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on Digital Ecosystem Governance for Child Protection (PP Tunas).

The Director General of Digital Space Oversight at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi), Alexander Sabar, stated that this change represents a concrete step by the global platform in meeting national regulatory obligations whilst enhancing child protection in digital spaces.

“We appreciate the concrete action taken by X as a demonstration of its compliance commitment whilst ensuring child protection in digital spaces,” Alexander said in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Alexander stated that X has communicated this change through a dedicated Help Centre page for Indonesia, accessible via the provided link.

Starting from 27 March 2026, X stated it will implement its action plan to identify and deactivate user accounts that do not meet the applicable minimum age requirement.

“Kemkomdigi will conduct periodic monitoring of progress in this process to ensure compliance with PP Tunas regulations is fulfilled,” Alexander said.

Kemkomdigi emphasised that other electronic system operators (PSEs) who have received letters from Communications and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid should promptly provide formal responses and take concrete steps as X has and will undertake.

“Active and timely compliance from all PSEs is a crucial factor in creating a digital ecosystem that is safe for children,” Alexander stated.
