WYF Gathers Over 400 Students at Future Liberal Arts Leadership Summit in Macau
Macau, (ANTARA/PRNewswire) - World Youth Forum (WYF), an international non-profit platform that annually reaches more than 500,000 young people in over 30 countries through educational programmes, competitions, conferences, and various youth-driven initiatives, successfully held WYF-FLALS 2026 in Macau. WYF brought together more than 400 students over five days through interdisciplinary learning sessions and cross-cultural collaboration at the Future Liberal Arts Leadership Summit.
Participants came from more than 10 countries and territories, including Cambodia; China, including Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and the Taiwan region; India; Indonesia; Singapore; Thailand; the United States; and Vietnam (listed alphabetically). Following WYF-FELS in Hong Kong, WYF-FLALS concluded WYF’s 2026 series of high-level conferences. Overall, the events brought together more than 1,000 young people to learn and exchange ideas in the fields of economics, liberal arts, and cross-cultural understanding.
WYF, together with the Organising Committee of the International Academic Decathlon (IAD), conceived WYF-FLALS to invite participants to explore the theme ‘Our Changing Climate’ from various perspectives, ranging from social sciences, literature, fine arts, science, mathematics, economics, to music. Through cross-disciplinary challenges, projects, speeches, and exchange sessions, students were able to learn about climate change not only from a scientific standpoint but also from economic, social, and cultural perspectives.
A number of officials and dignitaries attended the event, including Wong Yee Lam, Member of the Administrative Committee of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute; Cheng Wai Tong, Deputy Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office; Cheong Man Fai, Head of the Youth Affairs Department of the Macao Education and Youth Bureau; Li Feilong, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Jia Qiong, Second Secretary of the Information and Public Diplomacy Department of the Office of the Commissioner of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao SAR; Lao Ngai Leong and Si Ka Lon, each serving as Deputies to the National People’s Congress of China; Wong Kit Cheng, Vice Chairman of the All-China Youth Federation; Lam Ieng Pui, Founding President of the Chinese Youth Advancement Association; Zhang Senhua, President of the Chinese Youth Advancement Association; Zhao Gang, Director General of the Global Innovation Center; Amy Dosch, Executive Director of the United States Academic Decathlon (USAD); and Henry Peng, Member of the Global Council of the World Youth Forum (WYF). Through academic sessions and discussions with students, the officials and dignitaries connected classroom learning materials with various global challenges. They also encouraged participants to view complex issues from multiple perspectives.
The WYF-FLALS 2026 programme included the Super Quiz, Academic Exploration Fair, Team Spark & Global Fusion Fest, U20–Master Call, U20–Idea Incubation, Themed Speech, U20–Youth Voice, and Bridging Worlds: Real-World Learning Journey. Awards were also presented to participants who demonstrated excellence in academics, teamwork, communication, and creativity.
WYF will continue to work with IAD, schools, educators, and international partners to expand access to challenge-based, interdisciplinary learning.
