Wushu body hires Chinese coaches
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Wushu Association (WI) will hire two Chinese coaches in preparation for the 2001 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games to be held in Kuala Lumpur in September.
WI chairman Mediteransyah said on Monday that coaches Cai Li Yuan and Seng Xian were contacted by the association and have agreed to coach 60 athletes based in Lampung, West Java, North Sumatra, East Java and Jakarta.
Antara reported that both coaches are expected to arrive here mid-January. They will groom wushu athletes in taulo (arts) and sanshou (fighting).
WI will have to pay the US$1,000 monthly salary for each coach because the National Sports Council (KONI) has not yet distributed funds for training programs. (yan)
