Wuling Motors introduced the Aira EV for the first time ahead of its official launch at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026. This latest model will complement Wuling’s electric vehicle line-up in the city car segment. The introduction of the Aira EV coincided with the celebration of Wuling’s nine-year journey in Indonesia, held at the Wuling factory in Cikarang, West Java, on Saturday (11/7/2026). Carrying the theme ‘Growing Together as a Family’, the event served as a moment for the company to review its business journey since it began operating in Indonesia in 2017. President Director of Wuling Motors, Tang Wensheng, stated that the company’s nine-year journey could not be separated from the support of employees, customers, and business partners. ‘In its nine-year journey, Wuling has grown together with the Indonesian family. Every achievement we have made is the result of the hard work and dedication of all employees and the trust given by customers, both in Indonesia and in various global markets,’ said Tang. Although it has not yet revealed technical specifications or pricing, Wuling stated that the Aira EV is an electric city car developed to meet the daily mobility needs of the public. The model will be part of the development of the company’s New Energy Vehicle (NEV) line in Indonesia. Wuling explained that the Aira EV is designed to deliver a practical and easy-to-use driving experience. The electric car is said to have been born from the contribution of Indonesian human resources involved in its development process. The launch of the Aira EV is also part of the expansion of Wuling’s electric vehicle line, which was previously filled by the Air EV, BinguoEV, and Cloud EV. On the same occasion, Wuling revealed a number of achievements during its nine years of operation in Indonesia. To date, the company has produced more than 200,000 vehicle units for the domestic and export markets, and has served around 180,000 customers in Indonesia. In addition, vehicles produced at the Wuling factory in Cikarang have been exported to various countries with a total volume of around 10,000 units. Wuling also claims to be the first Chinese automotive manufacturer to assemble electric vehicle batteries locally in Indonesia. Wuling currently markets various models in Indonesia, ranging from the Air EV, BinguoEV, and Cloud EV electric vehicles, to the Confero, Cortez, and Darion MPVs, the Alvez, Almaz, and Eksion SUVs, as well as the Mitra EV, Formo, and Formo Max commercial vehicles. The official launch of the Aira EV is scheduled to take place at GIIAS 2026, which will be held at the end of July.
