Wuling Motors (Wuling) has received a positive reception for its latest vehicle, the Eksion, which was launched in April 2026. Brian Gomgom, Senior Manager of Brand Communication at Wuling Motors, stated that the vehicle, which is available in two variants—Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicle (EV)—has already received orders for 1,500 units, with sales dominated by the EV segment.

“Regarding the sales proportion for the Eksion, 70 per cent is dominated by the EV segment, while 30 per cent accounts for the PHEV segment,” Brian Gomgom told the media during a media drive from Jakarta to Yogyakarta on Thursday.

This trend indicates a growing public interest in pure electric vehicles, even as PHEV technology remains popular due to the flexibility of combining a petrol engine with an electric motor.

The Wuling Eksion is a seven-passenger SUV available in both EV and PHEV options. The PHEV variant is equipped with a 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle petrol engine paired with an electric motor producing 145 kW (equivalent to 195 hp) and 230 Nm of torque. This system is supported by a 20.5 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery and a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). Wuling claims the PHEV variant can travel up to 125 kilometres in pure electric mode and achieves a total range of over 1,000 kilometres with a full battery and fuel tank.

In addition to offering efficiency, the Wuling Eksion features a length of 4,745 mm, seven-passenger capacity, a 12.8-inch infotainment screen, six airbags, and Level 2 ADAS active safety features designed to enhance driving comfort and security.
