Wuling Eksion Launches, 7-Seater Electric SUV Starting at Rp 389 Million
JAKARTA - Wuling Motors has once again made waves in Indonesia’s automotive market with the launch of the Wuling Eksion, a 7-passenger SUV that arrives with two technology options simultaneously: pure electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV).
The arrival of this model not only adds choices in the family SUV segment but also serves as a strong signal that electrification is becoming increasingly affordable for the mass market.
The main appeal of the Eksion lies in its aggressive pricing. For the pure electric variant, Wuling offers a starting price of Rp 389 million for the EV CE type. Notably, this price is a special offer for the first 2,000 customers.
With this price range, the Wuling Eksion directly enters territory previously occupied by conventional SUVs, even overlapping with popular diesel ladder frame models in Indonesia.
This makes the Eksion an attractive new option, especially amid rising fuel costs that are increasingly felt by consumers.
Support for fast charging also ensures this vehicle remains practical for daily use as well as long-distance trips.
Meanwhile, the PHEV variant offers greater flexibility by combining a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor. When fully charged, its total range can reach around 1,000 km.
Even for city use, this vehicle can operate in pure electric mode for 60 to 130 km, significantly reducing fuel consumption.
Inside the cabin, the Wuling Eksion provides ample space thanks to its large dimensions and wheelbase of about 2,800 mm. The 7-seater configuration makes it ideal as a family vehicle.
A modern feel is enhanced by the presence of a panoramic sunroof, digital entertainment screen, and a minimalist dashboard design that prioritises comfort and ease of use.
In terms of features, Wuling has equipped the Eksion with comprehensive technology for its class. Level 2 ADAS system is included to improve driving safety, supported by six airbags and a body structure with high-strength materials.
Meanwhile, the chassis relies on MacPherson suspension at the front and multi-link at the rear to provide a balance between comfort and stability.
The presence of the Wuling Eksion clearly poses a serious challenge to conventional SUVs, particularly diesel models that have long dominated the market. With lower operating costs and more modern technology, the Eksion has the potential to change consumer preferences, especially in the urban family segment.
Overall, the Wuling Eksion is not just a new product but also a representation of the changing direction in Indonesia’s automotive industry. With a competitive price, electrification technology, and complete features, this model has the potential to become a game changer in the SUV segment in the near future.
