Writing contest deadline extended

JAKARTA (JP): The city administration has extended the deadline for the writing contest on low-cost apartments to Aug. 30, the head of the city's general affairs office, Mursaid, said.

"The extension of the contest, which was originally planned to have closed at the end of July, is intended mainly to give more people the chance to enter," he said.

Anyone is eligible to enter the competition, provided the article has been published in an Indonesian-language daily newspaper.

Prizes range from Rp 1 million (US$385) to Rp 2.5 million. It is hoped the contest will help popularize low-cost apartments among Jakartans. (hhr)
