Writer's House in Depok Swarmed by Mass Organisations
The residence of writer Ahmad Bahar in Cimanggis, Depok, was swarmed by members of the GRIB Jaya mass organisation on Sunday (17/5). The action was allegedly triggered by content created by Ahmad Bahar.
AKP Made Budi, Head of Public Relations for the Depok Metro Police, stated that the incident was reported to the Cimanggis Police Sub-district via the 110 emergency call centre. “On that day, we conducted a check on a citizen complaint via 110, regarding the house of Mr Ahmad Bahar, which was visited by Mr Hercules,” Budi said in a statement on Monday (18/5).
Made revealed that the raid was allegedly prompted by content produced by Ahmad Bahar, which Hercules Rosario Marshal, the General Chairman of GRIB Jaya, felt was detrimental to him. “Regarding the content produced by Mr Ahmad Bahar’s family that harmed Mr Hercules—according to Mr Ahmad Bahar, his mobile phone had been hacked,” said Made.
Rumours had circulated suggesting that Ahmad Bahar’s child had been taken hostage. However, Made clarified that the child is currently in good health. “The condition of his child (Ahmad Bahar) has returned to a healthy state,” he noted.
Made further explained that the matter has been resolved through familial mediation. During a deliberation held at the Depok Metro Police on Sunday night, both parties agreed to a peaceful settlement. “Last night, a joint agreement and statement to reconcile were drafted at the Depok Metro Police,” he said.
As of the time of publication, no official statement has been released by GRIB Jaya regarding the incident.
