Writer's daughter in Depok reports Hercules to police over kidnapping
The daughter of writer Ahmad Bahar, Ilma Sani Fitriana, who was briefly besieged by members of the GRIB Jaya organisation, has reported GRIB Jaya chairman Hercules to Polda Metro Jaya. The report concerns alleged detention of Ilma over the weekend. The filing was registered under STTLP/B/3678/V/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA dated 22 May 2026. Ilma reported Hercules, accompanied by her legal counsel.
“For us, this already constitutes a criminal act. The offences include abduction/hostage-taking, kidnapping, verbal threats, and the use of firearms, among others. That is the first point,” said Ilma’s lawyer, Gufroni, to reporters after filing at Polda Metro Jaya, South Jakarta, on Friday (22 May 2026).
Gufroni said the filing was based on what Ilma experienced when her home was allegedly surrounded, then abducted and detained. Ilma was allegedly forcibly taken to the GRIB Jaya central office and was threatened, even at gunpoint.
“This certainly unsettled our client. There was an extraordinary fear, as on Sunday, 17 May, Ms Ilma was forcibly taken by a group of people to the GRIB Jaya Central headquarters,” he explained.
Next, Gufroni said Ilma also reported a hack of her WhatsApp account. The report was registered under STTLP/B/3679/V/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA dated 22 May 2026.
“Indeed, before that Sunday there had been, what’s the term, an operation, so her phone could not be used. So she had tried to seek assistance from service providers to restore the phone, and so on,” he said.
Response from Hercules’ side
GRIB Jaya spokesperson Marcelinus Gual said they did not object to Ilma reporting Hercules. However, Marcelinus contended that Ilma’s side had twisted the facts in this case.
“Please, this is a rule-of-law country; every citizen has the right to justice. It will be proven later who the actual perpetrators are, not ‘playing the victim.’ What Bahar’s side has said contains a lot of wild allegations such as kidnapping and assault. In reality, they are the ones who demean our chairman’s dignity, and again, what was said was only to steer public opinion. Far from the facts,” Marcelinus said.
A dispute between author Ahmad Bahar and members of the GRIB Jaya organisation had reportedly been resolved amicably. Bahar’s house in Depok, West Java, was visited by several GRIB Jaya members.
Bahar’s house in Cimanggis, Depok, was first visited by GRIB Jaya members on Friday (15 May). At that time, the GRIB Jaya members who came to the house were given an explanation.
The dispute is suspected to have been sparked by the hacking of Ahmad Bahar’s mobile number and that of his daughter. After the hack, the number was used by an unknown person to send threatening messages to Hercules and his wife.
In addition, videos circulating that used the name of Ahmad Bahar were circulating on social media. The videos were also alleged to have insulted Hercules. GRIB Jaya members returned to Ahmad Bahar’s house on Sunday (17 May). It is suspected they wanted Ahmad Bahar to provide a direct explanation to Hercules regarding the alleged hacking of the phone number and the spread of videos on social media.
“My phone and my daughter’s phone were hacked, in other words cloned. As a result, certain videos appeared that were not mine. That may have been the source of the misunderstanding,” Ahmad Bahar said in a video seen by detikcom, on Tuesday (19 May).
