World's Most Powerful Passports Updated for July 2026, Singapore Remains King
The list of the world’s most powerful passports from the Passport Index has been updated for July 2026. Based on the Global Passport Power Rank 2026, the United Arab Emirates passport remains the strongest in the world with a Mobility Score (MS) of 182, outperforming European and Asian countries that have traditionally dominated the top rankings. The Global Passport Power Rank compiles rankings based on the Mobility Score, which is the total travel access a passport provides, including visa-free access, visa on arrival, and electronic travel authorisations. The higher the score, the broader the mobility for the passport holder. In second place are France and Spain with a Mobility Score of 175. Meanwhile, third place is occupied by a group of countries with a score of 174, including Singapore, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Malaysia. In Asia, Singapore remains the country with the strongest passport. Japan and South Korea are in the next group with a Mobility Score of 173, placing them fourth in the world alongside several other European nations. Indonesia remains in the middle tier. The Indonesian passport ranks 55th in the world with a Mobility Score of 89. This position is still below Thailand and far behind Malaysia and Singapore, both of which are in the global top five. In Southeast Asia, Indonesia is in fifth place. The ASEAN country rankings based on the Global Passport Power Rank for July 2026 are: 1. Singapore - 3rd globally, Mobility Score 174; 2. Malaysia - 3rd globally, Mobility Score 174; 3. Brunei - 16th globally, Mobility Score 154; 4. Thailand - 51st globally, Mobility Score 94; 5. Indonesia - 55th globally, Mobility Score 89; 6. Philippines - 61st globally, Mobility Score 79; 7. Vietnam - 68th globally, Mobility Score 69; 8. Cambodia - 71st globally, Mobility Score 66; 9. Laos - 75th globally, Mobility Score 62; 10. Myanmar - 82nd globally, Mobility Score 55; 11. Timor-Leste - 45th globally, Mobility Score 103. On the other end of the spectrum, Afghanistan remains the country with the weakest passport in the world, ranking at the very bottom with a Mobility Score of 35.
