An Emirates Airbus A380-800 landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, on Saturday night, 8 August 2026. This marked the first time the aircraft has landed at Soekarno-Hatta. The moment drew considerable attention as the aircraft is the largest operating passenger plane in the world, with a capacity of around 600 passengers.

The arrival of the Airbus A380-800 was captured on the Instagram account @soekarnohattaairport. According to information gathered, the aircraft landed at Soetta Airport at around 10.25 pm Western Indonesia Time.

In the post, the world’s largest aircraft was escorted by airport operational vehicles after landing as it taxied towards the terminal parking area. The aircraft reportedly departed again for Dubai in the early hours of Sunday, 9 August 2026, at 00.45 Western Indonesia Time.

Previously, the world’s largest passenger aircraft had served commercial flights to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali on Thursday, 1 June 2023. This time, the arrival of the Airbus A380-800 at Soetta Airport was to support Chelsea’s pre-season tour match against AC Milan, held on Saturday night, 8 August 2026, at Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta.

Meanwhile, General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Heru Karyadi, said the presence of the Airbus A380-800 represents an important milestone in strengthening Indonesia’s international connectivity while affirming Soekarno-Hatta International Airport’s readiness to serve aircraft in the ICAO Aerodrome Reference Code 4F (Code F) category.

“This also demonstrates the trust of international airlines in the quality of infrastructure and services at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport,” he said, as quoted from ANTARA on Sunday, 9 August 2026.

He said all preparations had been carried out thoroughly together with regulators, airlines, and all aviation stakeholders to ensure the Airbus A380-800 operation proceeded safely, smoothly, and provided the best experience for service users.

To ensure the smooth inaugural operation of the Airbus A380-800, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, together with Emirates, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, AirNav Indonesia, ground handling service providers, Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and all relevant stakeholders, carried out a series of coordination, verification, and operational simulations.

These measures were taken to ensure that all service processes, from aircraft arrival, passenger and baggage handling, to departure, could take place safely, smoothly, and efficiently.
