REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIANJUR - 22 March is commemorated annually as World Water Day. This observance serves as a momentum to enhance awareness and concern regarding the importance of access to clean water and proper sanitation. PT Ocean Network Express (ONE) has marked this occasion in its own way.

PT Ocean Network Express (ONE) initiated the distribution of water filter aid to SD Negeri Salakawung in Cugenang Subdistrict, Cianjur Regency, West Java. The inauguration of this aid took place on Monday (30/3/2026) alongside Sinergi Foundation as the partner, as well as the school’s students and teachers.

Previously, the water used by the pupils and teachers at SD Negeri Salakawung came from a shallow dug well. As a result, it often contained residues such as sand and mud, making the water appear cloudy. Nevertheless, this water was extensively used for washing dishes, cooking, and even drinking.

The water filter was selected as a solution to address this issue. Its presence is believed to provide a sustainable impact in supplying clean water and proper sanitation for the pupils and educators at SD Negeri Salakawung.

One of the sixth-grade pupils at SD Negeri Salakawung, Albar, shared the benefits he has experienced from the water filter aid. He admitted that the water now flowing from the tap feels fresher, cooler, and free from the usual dirt.

The inauguration event that day was not merely filled with ceremonial proceedings. Education regarding the uses of water in various sectors was also delivered to the pupils. Thus, it is hoped that the students will gain a more comprehensive understanding of water as a source of life, while also learning how to conserve and use water wisely.

The Headmaster of SD Negeri Salakawung, Sukmayadi, expressed his gratitude for the water filter aid. He stated that the benefits of the device are felt by 155 pupils as well as the teaching staff. The presence of the filter also alleviates the teachers’ concerns, who often witnessed children drinking directly from the sometimes dirty tap water.

“Hopefully, with this device, it can help the school in conserving water and, so to speak, in educating the children about water needs and the use of water in school,” said Sukmayadi.

Head of Programme for Distribution & Innovation at Sinergi Foundation, Haidar Junda Rabbani, stated that the water filter was provided through funds from PT ONE’s CSR. This aid is designed to target one school that faces difficulties in accessing clean water and has limited knowledge regarding the environment.

“May this become a positive image for PT ONE, especially coinciding with World Water Day. And on the other hand, the impact on the community can increase a sense of security and reduce worries due to direct consumption of water. Thank you for the cooperation; may this be the beginning of further concrete actions,” said Haidar.

General Manager of HR/GA at PT ONE, Jie Siau Yin, emphasised that this distribution serves as evidence of the company’s concern and support for public health. Jie Siau Yin also expressed appreciation to Sinergi Foundation as the partner. The company acknowledged that the good cooperation and communication established have ensured the smooth running of the water filter distribution.

“And we want to ensure that the presence of this water becomes a source of enthusiasm for learning. May the golden children, the nation’s successors, be born here!”
